Position: IT Officer
Organisation: Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP)
Duty Station: Hargeisa, Somaliland
Starting: Immediate
Duration: one-month probationary period with possible extension (six months)
Background:
JCCP is a Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1999 based in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to global peace and security by building human capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building. JCCP specialises in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, experts’ training in peacekeeping operations, peace-building for civilian, police and military, education and livelihood support.
JCCP has an ongoing project in Somaliland/Puntland/Somalia. The IT officer will assist the work of the office and project under the supervision of Project Manager. S/he will be based in Hargeisa, Somaliland with frequent field visits to the project sites across Somaliland/Puntland/Somalia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the IT Officer will be as follows:
§ Install and support a database for the Youth-at-Risk project in 3 stations; Burao, Bossaso and Galkayo (technical aspect based on the DREAM software designed by UNDP),
§ Design field’s database and Internet network structure,
§ Facilitate IT staff of the Observatory of Conflict and Violence Prevention at the University of Hargeisa and field staff of the project to register data and maintain the system,
§ Provide technical support for project partners to install the same in two Mogadishu sites
§ Draft relevant documents such as specifications and manuals,
§ Receive inquiries from partners when required, resolve technical incidents and report to the representative (Help desk operation),
§ Conduct lectures how to use the database to relevant stakeholders,
§ Sustain a good Internet environment in the office, and
§ Perform other duties as directed by the project manager

§ Ability to manage multi-tasks and prioritize work schedules;
§ Sincerity and courtesy in assigned work;
§ Good command of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, and
§ Fluency in spoken and written English
Education/Experiences
§ Excellent oral, written, and structured presentation skills with the ability;
§ College or University degree in relevant academic field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology and Computer Engineering;
§ Minimum of 2 years experiences in technical environment working with databases and networks; and
§ Working experience, including intern experiences in NGOs could be added value.
