Somaliland Medical Association [SMA] is a registered, impartial, non-profit and non-Governmental voluntary health science professional association with its HQ in Hargeisa – Somaliland. SMA was created and stands for the representation, protection, and upgrading of its members in one hand; and to contribute the promotion and development of the state (Somaliland) health sector horizons through provision of communal health demand driven services and advocate for the attainment of competitive health sector of Somaliland with favorable driving policies, by laws and development strategies in other hand. Therefore, SMA in Hargeisa is seeking applications from health professional to fill the Part-Time Project Officer position to be based in Hargeisa.
Status is a fixed term contract on until 30 MARCH 2012
JOB PURPOSE
To maintain and contribute to the development of Somaliland Medical Association with responsibility for certain EC project activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with the Programme Manager to help implement SMA’s EC sub-grant project according to plans agreed with the Programme and Chairman. This includes, but is not limited to, working with 3 Task Force sub-committees of SMA members to support the implementation of the SMA-EC Sub-grant on Strengthen SMA Operational Capacity in the Somaliland Health Sector.
2. Assist the SMA respective Clinical Audit, Ethics manual and standards protocols and accreditation taskforce committees in the preparation and setting of their respective action plans including data collection, training from KTSP and record keeping and reporting.
3. Set the M & E plans of three SMA’s task force committees (Clinical Audit, Ethics manual and standards protocols and accreditation taskforce committees) by conducting regular collection and collation of data relating to the 3 task force groups’ achievements and resulting from their respective works.
4. Develop and maintain good relationships with SMA donors and local stakeholders, including the Somaliland Ministry of Health and the Somaliland Nursing and Midwifery Association, National Health Professional Council and etc.
5. Prepare monthly progressive reports (including M & E data) of the three task force committees (i.e. Clinical Audit, Ethics manual and Standards Protocols and Accreditation taskforce committees) activities performance and meet timely submission of the reports.
6. Contribute to SMA’s national promotional activities such as special events and newsletters.
7. Conduct other duties assigned by the programme manager.

- Experience of producing computerized narrative reports
- Good interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills within a cross cultural setting
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- An ability to prioritize and complete a heavy workload
